With the addition of ASIO technology in FL Studio, FL’ers can now easily record full songs into FL Studio, and YES full songs including high-quality vocal audio tracks.
Though there has been much continued confusion about recording vocals into FL Studio, many still do not seem to even believe they can record vocals into FL Studio
With that in mind, for the FL’ers that use this simple-to-use and vital feature in FL Studio, you may find times when you’ve recorded a bunch of unwanted takes, (you know the ones where you end up saying f*ck, sh!t or the mumble ‘lets try that one again from the top’) Yea those ones. Well for those silly screw-ups or hoarsed voiced takes,
you can remove these takes after they’ve started to build up in your project. At this point, these vocal takes are taking up most of your project space environment, specifically the Step Sequencer.
To remove these unwanted and unused vocal audio tracks you’ll need to start by removing them from the Playlist where they were originally recorded then completely remove them from the Step Sequencer and the project.
Suppose you’ve just recorded a couple vocal tracks. You then decide that you’ll keep the 2nd vocal track and wont use the 1st vocal track. You could simply delete the
recorded vocal Audio Clip from the Step Sequencer, however you’ll notice when working with
over 10-15 vocal takes you’ll be spending a lot of time clicking through audio clips figuring out which is which, what to keep and what not to keep for your final song. It’s a pain, a waste of time and not entirely efficient
To get started:
Right click the 1st audio clip in the Playlist (in the Clips Tracks section) to
remove it. However, keep in mind that this has not entirely removed the
vocal (audio clip) track from the project. It will still be present in
the Step Sequencer as an Audio Clip as mentioned in the intro of this article.
To completely remove the unwanted vocal audio clip track, you’ll need to point
to the Tools menu > Macros > Purge unused audio clips.
This will remove all unused audio clips from your project and the Step Sequencer.
Give it a try.
